Carlos Albizu University (CAU), a private, non-profit, fully accredited university with campuses in Miami and San Juan Puerto Rico, will host a special event in celebration of
The National Mental Health Awareness Month.
This event will take place at the university’s campus in Doral, 2173 N.W. 99 Avenue on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 5:30 pm to 9pm.
“Mental Health Month was created more than 50 years ago to raise awareness about mental health conditions and the importance of mental wellness for all.” said Dr. Tania Diaz, CAU’s Assistant Professor and coordinator of this celebration. CAU will host a series of mini lectures on alternative forms of therapy and complimentary depression screenings will be available.
This event is open to all students, faculty and our community. There will be representatives from various mental health community agencies such as Agape, Mujer, Aetna Insurance Company, Reflections Wellness Center, and Jackson Memorial Hospital providing literature on mental health topics and resources. Refreshments will be served.
Carlos Albizu University is dedicated to providing rich experiences to our students through rigorous academic training and culturally diverse practicum settings. In addition as part of our outreach programs, CAU seeks to promote a greater awareness of mental health related treatment and resources throughout our community.
